Christmas is a time when we focus on friends and family and enjoy time together in the comfort of our homes, with gifts and our favourite foods all around us.  For many of us, Christmas is also a time when we like to think about those who do not have the same privileges we do and what we can do to help as part of celebrating the season.

Many of the people of Haiti do not have access to clean water to drink. Due to the lack of clean water many children and parents are affected by typhoid and cholera; these are just some of serious waterborne illnesses that plague Haiti’s population. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, with many people living on just $1 to $2 USD a day. In such poverty, it is impossible for most people to buy clean, healthy water. Most of the population walks long distances to get water for drinking, cooking, bathing and cleaning and that water is often unclean and sometimes downright dangerous.

            In the community of Merger, with a population of almost 10,000 people, the need for a clean water well in the community is critical. Inspired2change, alongside Haiti Arise Ministries, has the goal of bringing clean and healthy water to this community in 2018.

Inspired2change, is an organization started by Samuel and Leah Bernard. Inspired2change does not only want to bring temporary relief, but rather authentic change in Haiti.

In March 2018, Inspired2change is taking a team to Haiti Arise Ministries to help bring clean water to community of Merger by facilitating the drilling of a well, which will cost $7, 000 CAD.
